Has Anyone Tried Free Reverse Phone Lookup?

Lately i have been getting a lot of calls from unknown numbers and it got me wondering who is behind them. I do not usually answer if i do not recognize the number, but sometimes i still get curious especially if it happens more than once or looks local. I started looking into free reverse phone lookup options just to see if i could find any useful info. It turns out you can sometimes get the general location, the type of line (mobile or landline), and occasionally even a name if the number is tied to something public. Not always super detailed but enough to get a sense of whether the call was legit or just another scam. Of course it is not always accurate and you hit a wall if the number is private or unlisted, but for a quick check, I think it helps. Has anyone else tried this? Did you have any luck identifying callers, or is it mostly a dead end?

Honestly, the best way i’ve identified callers is by Googling the number directly. Forums like 800Notes and WhoCallsMe are lifesavers. People will post this is a debt collector or scam pretending to be IRS. Community knowledge is underrated.

I reverse looked up a number once and found it was my own. Turns out I’d mistyped the digits. But seriously i do use TrueCaller and it catches a good chunk of spam. But it’s like a game of cat and mouse with scammers.
